SVQ Level 3 is designed for experienced practitioners whose role involves taking an active part in planning, decision-making and the wider delivery of care and support.

Typical roles may include:

Level 3 may not be appropriate if you…

 have greater responsibility for care & support decisions

• coordinate or review aspects of care and support

• undertake significant key-working responsibilities

• support or influence the practice of others

• exercise greater autonomy within your role

 

Level 3 may not be the most appropriate if you… 

 deliver direct care within a clearly defined role 

 follow agreed plans and procedures

 make routine day-to-day decisions

 contribute information and observations

 seek guidance for decisions outside your role

What kind of practice will I need to demonstrate?

A Level 3 candidate requires regular opportunities to demonstrate practice such as:

• exercising professional judgement and responsibility

• contributing to the planning, review and decisaion-making

• recognising to changes in needs, risks or circumstances

• contributing to risk assessment and safe working

• working collaboratively with  colleagues and other professionals

• supporting consistency good practice

• contributing to improvement and development

How does assessment work?

You will work with your assessor to plan suitable assessment activity, gather evidence from your day-to-day role and demonstrate the knowledge, judgement and competence required by the qualification.

SVQ assessment is built around your real workplace practice rather than a final exam.
